WSKG (public radio) in Binghamton, New York, reports this morning
(March 9, 2006) an unexpected 50% decline in lake trout in Lake
Ontario this year.

It was stated there had been a slow decline since a peak sometime in
the late 90’s. But this year’s drop is substantial.

Exacerbating this, according to the report, is that 100% of over
500,000 fish in a Pennsylvania hatchery destined for the lake died
mysteriously of an unknown disease.
